Founded by Muslims in the 9th century and conquered by Christians kings in the 13th century, the bustling city of Murcia offers a wide variety of architectural delights. First stop in the tour is the baroque Monastery of the Virgin of Fuensanta, the Patroness of the city, from where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the green valley below. Later on, when getting to the old quarter, you will be gladly surprised by the monumental Cathedral, where three different architectural styles – Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque- coexist in perfect harmony. You will then make your way to the main street in town to discover the Royal Casino, the main civil monument in Murcia, a delightful mixture of styles in a luxury environment, first opened in the late 19th century as a Gentleman’s Club. A walk through Santo Domingo and Romea squares will allow you to feel the real atmosphere of this lively city before having free time for a coffee break, then returning to the ship.
