East of Cartagena there is a place where nature has provided conditions that have converted it into a geographic wonder. The Mar Menor (the “Little Sea”) is one of the largest salt lagoons in Europe. Due to its calm and warm waters, which are very rich in salts and iodine and never under 18ºC, it can be considered a natural spa. A long strip of land called “La Manga del Mar Menor” separates the Mediterranea from the lagoon, providing 21 km. of white sand beaches on both shores. In this tour you can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole area, including a brief stop to try some of the beaches and a refreshing drink by the seaside.
The fishing village of Cabo de Palos (Palos Cape), located at the southeastern corner of the Iberian Peninsula, is another point of interest. We will stop at the lighthouse, which dates back to the 19th century, to enjoy breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, La Manga, and the Natural Marine Reserve of “Islas Hormigas”, with its reefs full of sea life that have turned it into a diver’s paradise. Later on you will have free time to enjoy a good lunch in a restaurant with sea views.
